How to set up Surfshark on Amazon Fire TV Stick


In this tutorial, you will learn how to install the Surfshark VPN app on your Fire TV stick, or Fire TV.

To set up Surfshark on Firestick, you will need to have a 2nd or 4K generation Fire TV device and an active Surfshark VPN subscription. If you don’t have a subscription yet, you can purchase it on Surfshark pricing page.

 

Install the Surfshark app for the Fire TV stick

  1. Click on the homepage of your Fire TV and navigate to the search bar

  2. Search for Surfshark.

  3. Click on the Surfshark app icon in the search results.

  4. Click the Download button to start downloading the application onto your Firestick device. As soon as the download is complete, the app will be installed automatically.

Log in to the Surfshark app

 

  1. Once the installation is complete, you can either click Open or locate the app in your device's Applications list.

  2. Click Log in.

  3. Enter the email address you used when registering and your password. Click Log in.

    Alternatively, you can log in using the Surfshark app on your mobile device. To do that, open your phone's camera device and take a picture of the QR code, or press on Or enter a login code, which you can find by going to Settings > Account > TV login, and enter the code you see on the Surfshark app.

Connect to the VPN

 

Once you log in, you will see the homepage of the Surfshark app. Here, you can see the VPN connection status, the list of locations, and a button to connect to the VPN.

  1. Press the Quick-connect button, and the app will instantly connect to the fastest server available.

  2. When connecting to a VPN server for the first time, accept the connection request in the pop-up window by pressing OK.

  3. You can also connect to the Faster server or the Nearest country.

    To do so, click on the button of your preference, as indicated below.

  4. As soon as you connect, you will see the connection status on the app's homepage.

    If it is green and says CONNECTED, your internet connection is secured.

Manage Surfshark VPN locations

Surfshark has 3200+ servers in 100 countries. Choose the server, click on it, and that's it.

  1. You will find the list of locations on the left side of your screen. Use the search bar or scroll down until you find a specific country. Click on the flag icon of your preferred location, and you will instantly connect to it.

  2. If you want Surfshark to remember your favorite locations, press the star on the right side of the location. Now this server will appear in the list of your Favourites.

  3. The bubble icon next to the star indicates how loaded the Surfshark servers are in a specific location; in other words, how many people are connected to servers in that location.

    The first bubble in this picture indicates that Surfshark servers in Germany are under a heavy load at the moment. The second bubble shows that only a few people are connected to Surfshark servers in Japan.

  4. You may have noticed static IP and MultiHop tabs at the top of your Surfshark app.

    Static IP – you will get the same IP address each time you connect to the Static IP servers.

    MultiHop – you will be connected through two different VPN servers. You can also choose both of these servers.

 

Manage Surfshark features

In the features tab, you'll find two features.

Enable CleanWeb. It’s a feature that blocks ads, trackers, malware, and phishing attempts.

Access Surfshark Bypasser. It’s a feature that allows specific apps & websites to bypass the VPN tunnel.

 

Manage Surfshark settings

You can customize your Surfshark app to suit your personal preferences. Go to the Settings tab.


Click on VPN settings.

Here, you can:

  • Enable Auto-connect.

  • Select your Quick-connect location.

  • Enable kill switch. It's a feature that protects you from unexpected VPN disconnections.

  • Change the VPN connection protocol.

  • Enable Small packets. This feature improves your connectivity when using slower networks.

Here, you can do the following:

  • Check your current subscription plan.
  • Log out of your account.
  • Enter login code.


Switch to App settings.

Here, you can do the following:

  • Change the app language.
  • See the current app version.
  • Choose whether the app sends crash reports.
  • Choose whether the app sends analytics of usage data.
  • Send diagnostics.
